Summer Youth Ministry Plans
ByHow do you go about planning the youth ministry programming for the summer?
In our case, here in Liverpool, NY, the summer is a very different time of year and I am one that fully believes in living in seasons so we embrace that changes.
What makes summer a different season for ministry? (Besides the obvious meteorological differences.)
- Families are always traveling
- Volunteers are taking family vacations
- Teens have tons of free time
Because of these differences in our lives in the summer season we make it a different season in ministry. So what are we doing to make it a little different?
- No Wednesday night small groups
- Because we are actually scheduling in weekly time for volunteers to go hang out with kids more.
- No full summer camp
- Because we want to respect the volunteers and the amount of time that we are asking them to take off from work for the youth ministry.
- Periodic service projects
- Because we want to show kids that they really can make a difference right in the community where we live & it is huge for bonding the group!
- Pool parties & Bon Fires
- Because we love to just have fun together!
- Intentionally being spontaneous with relationships
- Because we want to stress just doing life together.
