Storm Watch Part 2
ByThis past Sunday we went through week number two of our Storm Watch (from XP3) series about about
dealing with the “storms” of life. During the small group discussion time we gave the kids a chance to write down a “storm story” from their own life and share it so we could know that we are not the only ones that go through tough stuff in life.
We let them know up front that they could be anonymous because they are going to be taped up to the wall around the room for this coming week. Some students opted to be anonymous and some didn’t but almost all of them decided to be real and write down stories of real storms from their own lives.
Stories that I read and prayed over ranged from dealing a with a pet that got hit by a car to a student who was dealing drugs, to students who had to deal with father’s that drank too much, to cutting and depression. Real stories.
One thing that got my attention was that about 25% of the stories had to do with serious relationship problems with their father.
What can we do as a church to better help connect men and help them become the men that God wants them to be for their families and their communities?
**I have been really thinking about starting Life Hurts God Heals in our youth ministry. I think this is the thing that is finally pushing us there. Any input on the program?**
