{Stumbled across your site through someone else's I stumbled across...}

I haven't read this book, but thumbed through it in a store recently and wasn't impressed. Thanks for the review, though - it's helpful to know what to avoid. ;-)

Personally, when it comes to faith & politics, I've enjoyed:

God's Name In Vain, by Stephen Carter
Blinded By Might, by Cal Thomas and Ed Dobson

Though they're from different backgrounds spiritually and politically, both books cover the basic nature of government and the Church and where they meet. If you want a more concise version of "God's Name In Vain" and don't mind C.S. Lewis, you should check out Lewis' essay: "Meditation on the Third Commandment", found in God In The Dock.

::shrug::

Good reading, though - I'll add your site to my feed reader. :-)

Interesting review. I've actually read a similar comparison several times in this campaign's coverage - that is, that McCain-Palin are more "old testament" (vengenance, divisive) while Obama-Biden are more "new testament" (support for the disenfranchised, uniting). Hence, the label of Obama as the "Messiah." I'm planning to read "God's Politics" soon so if you get around to that one, LMK what you think.

thanks for your thoughts Chris. I, for one, appreciate the honesty with which you wrote your review. I agree with your thoughts about needing to get into some NT to talk about how Jesus used the OT to guide his life, not just focus on the OT. Does that make sense?
