OK, if you live in my neck of the woods you may know what church this sign is out in front of.  I am by no means trying to attack or degrade this church, I am just trying to get us all thinking about the messages that we are putting out in the public.

So with that said, check this out!  I saw it the other day when I was riding my bike and decided to stop for the photo today when it was still up.

I don’t know about you but I found that to be pretty funny.  Not really relevant to the culture (unless you are a hold over from the ’60s) but pretty funny.

A few new people might actually show up but I am sure they will be disappointed when they find out that the mass is actually on the lawn!

Saw a fun post from my church planter friend, Paul, this morning that made me think about how I am taking time out of my life to just have fun and laugh.

It is so important to our well being that we live with rhythm, we can’t always be set on one speed, trying to get through the next project, get to the next family event, the next activity that the kids have going on, or even the next ministry event.  We need to be intentional about taking time out to just have fun and to laugh!

Along the same lines it is critical that we not take ourselves and what we do so seriously that we miss the fun and humor along the way.

That is why I am really looking forward to my “pastoral staff” retreat that is coming up in the middle of the month.  It is a time of great prayer, dreaming big about the future of my ministry, setting goals to help guide us to that future, a bunch of stupid fun, and lots of laughs!

How are you taking time for fun and laughs in your life?

We all know that one of the main characteristics of a great leader is their ability to inspire others on toward greatness. I came across an instance of great inspiration last night (for a second time) and I felt like I needed to share it with you. I submit the following dialog as an example of great inspiration:

Michael: What’s the most inspiring thing I’ve said to you?
Dwight: “Don’t be an idiot.” It has changed my life. Now whenever I am about to do something, I think to myself “Would an idiot do this?” If they would, I don’t do it.

Hands down one of the best pranks in high school sports history! An instant classic!

Could go a couple different directions with this sign I noticed at the Wendy’s drive through window.Wendys

  • Where is the R-rated Wendy’s?
  • Employees of all ages are welcome?
  • Employees need to be promised a courteous experience?
    • Maybe if the employees were courteous the guests would return the favor…
  • How can they actually promise an enjoyable experience?
    • What if I choke on chicken nugget?
